Lobo is completely unfazed by them. From the time we brought him home as a puppy he has never reacted to thunder, fireworks, vacuums, lawn mower, or rain. His reaction to his first snow left much to be desired ;P I have never seen him afraid of anything (he has been cautious of a few things but has never cowered or run away) which is a great thing but it also lends to his stubborn and independent personality

I have one thunder-phobic dog (non-GSD) and one who couldn't care less about thunder (GSD). It is much, MUCH easier to live with a dog that isn't afraid of rain, thunder, trucks, airplanes... Roxy gets put in her Thundershirt at the slightest indication of rain. I also start the essential oil diffuser. Bash would play all day in the rain if I let him!

My blind dog LOVES storms. He's a South Louisiana Cajun through and through--and one probably has to have spent time in Louisiana to understand what that means. He likes to go outside and bark at the thunder, giving it a piece of his mind. He even likes running around in the rain. I swear it looks like he's dancing with glee. I have trouble convincing him to come inside when he's having that much fun.

My young male is indifferent -- he could not care less about the storm. My little, fearful female mix unfortunately picked up thunder-phobia from a foster-dog who was rescued shortly after Huricane Isaac. He had PTSD from being outside in the hurricane with no shelter. My dog never had thunder-phobia until that foster dog convinced her to be afraid. Now we're working on counter-conditioning.

This is my Russell, through and through! I have to close the dog door and drag him into the house when it storms. He will sit out in the yard, rain pouring down on him, thunder and lightning like crazy. I brought him home as a 10 week old puppy, and had him about 2 weeks before my house got hit by the big May 20th tornado. Didn't even skip a beat.

Goofy dog.

None of mine are phased by it. They run and play out in the rain. They even lay down in the middle of the yard. Most of the time I have to bribe them to come in when it starts lightning for safety reasons.

Hans doesn't particularly like to get rained on, but he pays no attention whatsoever to thunder and lightning.
Our Hanging Tree Cowdog HATES even a tiny, faraway rumble of thunder, but does not mind getting rained on.
My Mom had a Ragdoll cat years ago, that was primarily a house cat, but LOVED to sit on the porch and watch it thunderstorm. :)

Fritz couldn't care less about thunder, lightning, rain, fireworks, busses, sirens or trucks... But, oh, those dang wheels on the garbage can, he tries to grab them!

Nox couldn't care less about thunderstorms, rain, etc. But Frankie starts getting nervous when she hears the far-off rumbles and cowers in the bathroom, shaking, when the thunder is close. She used to be okay with rain, but she's starting to associate it with the thunder. I'm gonna have to start making it a point to take them for walks when it's raining but not thundery this fall! Note to self - need a good rain jacket and rubber boots.
