Having recently regrouped and realizing Im not the dog wizard I thought I was, I have one dog in board and train, and the other in weekly lessons. The realization I had been complacent really hit home. I traded off my super dumb sports car (hellcat)and just got both the wife and I new daily drivers. With cloth seats, specifically for the dogs. Now Im looking at rear seat/cargo area covers for them. a 23 Tacoma double cab, and a 23 4runner. Anyone have suggestions? I see some on Amazon...some with door panel protection as well. Is there a better brand than others? A style everyone agrees on? I trust your guidance.

Crates are better to confine the dogs for safety purposes.

My fiance brought our shepherd to work every day and she was used to not traveling in a crate.
Agree with mnm a crate is safer for everyone involved.

That being said: after blowing through so many of the cheap Amazon ones I reccomend this bench seat cover now. Waterproof and thick canvas. My only complaint is the sides are a little low.

Duluth trading - scouts mobile mudroom

Editing to add: the weathertec seat covers are sturdy canvas as well but a bit ugly. You can find them for decent pricing on ebay.

My GSD rides in a Ruff Land crate in both my work truck (strapped to bed via ratchet straps) and my personal car (CR-V). Part of that is because those are the rules for my work truck, and also because my GSD happens to be a horrible car passenger (whines incessantly out of excitement..so at least in the truck bed I don't have to listen to her).

I also bought an insulated Mud River kennel cover for the winter months, and I strap a tarp on top of it if it's raining.

I bought one of these in July 2016, it's wearing well. My 105b dog is in my car daily, usually for an hour, sometimes 2. I have mud mats on top to 'grab' loose dog fur, and absorb mud. They prevent him sliding when I go around corners. He wears a harness that's plugged into the seatbelt clicker/thingy.

That's the kind well be getting for the crew cab with the fold up seats. Waiting for the half-grown-pup to get past his zipper cheng phase.

First I can't believe you traded in a Hellcat you sir are a very, very loyal dog owner. As much as my husband loves our girl I don't think he would have ever parted with a Hellcat. He would have just bought something she could go in, but again he is a big Mopar guy has 2 1970 Challengers and a 69 Dart convertible that he is restoring.

Anyway, sorry for going off topic. As others have said a crate would be best, but if you have a small car like me that even with the backseat folded down cannot fit a crate big enough for Meisha we ended up with a backseat hammock with harness seatbelt. It works.
