Where I live in Florida it has some of the highest concentration of freshwater springs in the world. One close by is fairly unknown, but popular with scuba and free divers as it goes to about 160 feet deep. It is a hole in the middle of the woods, and crystal clear in the dry months. About twenty minutes from the house! A real treasure for us and the dogs, I’m not sure how to explain it but the water itself feels comforting and therapeutic along with the wild surroundings.

Afterwards we got some to eat and Rio of course had his own burger patty. Must watch the video full screen!

Thank you! It is a magical spot. While being unknown to even people who have lived here most their lives it is known amongst the diving community so it’s best to go on a week day, the platform has limited space and I’m not trying to have my dog jump on top of people’s heads 😂. You have to sign in and drive about ten minutes through a wildlife management area on dirt roads before parking in a small grassy area and then walk almost a mile or so, but it makes the experience even more special. If it was easy to get to it would be inundated with people. Also, in the rainy season the water is black from the tannic rich swamp land that surrounds it, so you aren’t guaranteed the crystal water always.

There are other amazing springs in the area but touristy, and all except for one that you can drive up to don’t allow dogs. I did take Rio once on the paddleboard but just briefly, he did well but I didn’t have enough confidence instilled to go on a real trek. Once it’s a little cooler I’d like to try again.
