We lost our fur baby, Sarge, earlier this year. He was my 4th GSD, although I also grew up with GSDs as well. They are the best companions you could ever want.

I've always had black and tan Shepherds with standard coats (not long hair). I had one long hair Shepherd who was gorgeous, but I prefer the standard coats. I adopted my last Shepherd, so haven't had to deal with breeders in many years. I've looked at various breeders online in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, but almost all of them have black & red or long hair.

Does anyone know of a reputable breeder of black and tan Shepherds? I'm willing to wait for a litter. It's important to me that they provide hips/elbow OFA screening and DM DNA testing results for the Sir and Dam. There are too many breeders out there that want to verbally tell you the Dam and Sir have been cleared, but unwilling to show you health records. Health and temperament are of utmost importance.

We are looking for a family pet/companion and have no interest in showing him. We were hoping to stay within 200 miles of 19808, but will travel further if necessary for the right breeder.

Thanks in advance for any breeder suggestions you may have or suggestions of who we should avoid.

Donna

Here are a few pics of my previous fur babies.

Black and Red are typically European Show Lines, while Black and Tan can be European Working Lines, or BYB American lines (with faded pigmentation.). The pictures look like typical Show Lines. I'm sure there are some reputable breeders in your area.
