I have been reading a lot of posts from you guys and find myself saying "why can't my dog do that?" or "Gunner needs a job!" or "how can I teach my dog to do ...." etc. I understand we have only had him for about two weeks (on Friday), and I'm finding myself saying "if Hero was here, he would sit whenever I would tell him" or "if Hero was here, he would be right at my side during every walk".
It stinks for Gunner, because he is a totally different dog than my old shepherd, but I just want Gunner to be the best he can be. We have been working on patience, and giving eye contact before feeds, going outside, going inside (at a sit for each), and he has caught on quickly so I am proud of him for that. But when we are out and about (outside the home), he just gets distracted. I have been reading the post about having your dog's focus, so I am going to be working on that asap; however, I just feel lost. I don't know what to do next.
We have a lot going on in our life because we are moving next week, so as of right now working with Gunner is hard (I have been dog sitting at a friends house so Gunner stays with my boyfriend) . Maybe I just needed to vent to you guys, because everyone is awesome on here.
