glad you are going to a vet right away.....ANY!!!! eye issue should be treated as an emergency!

I once had a dog with a corneal ulcer condition that required drops, and periodic scraping of the eye by the vet (or ideally vet ophtholmalogist). It was a very painful condition to manage -- if you're facing anything like that, or any long-term/chronic eye issue, I would ask for a referral to a specialist. They have better, specialized diagnostic tools and more treatment options than regular vets do.

 

Did your dog's ulcer ever clear up? I'm facing this right now with my dog and I'm out of my mind sick with worry. She is seeing an ophthalmologist.

We have just got home from the vets and yes it is corneal ulcers he had a whopping six in the eye pictured in my first post and a small one in the other he has two sets of drop to be applied three times daily and another vets appointment on Saturday to see how the eyes are looking she did say it was unusual to see so many in a single eye

In the meantime if the condition worsens he is to go back straight away as they considered eyes an emergency definitely hope they do not get worse.

Now that you know that they're happening, going to see a vet ophthalmologist would be a Very Good Idea to look carefully into the back of the eye, check eye pressure, and do a full eye exam. If your regular vet can't help with a referral, here's a link to the national directory to find one:

Eyes are one of the things I usually don't trust to regular vets -- they're too complex, and the equipment needed for optimal diagnosis simply isn't in their possession usually. My vet ophthalmologist has been very important for the health of my dogs, over the years.
