I have a Dyson DC14 Animal. I've looked into newer models and don't like any of them. These days they are engineering them smaller, the cord is shorter (LOVE the long cord), the canister is too small, the lighter it weighs the less it "sucks". Sometimes, more really is more! More weight = more suction. Bigger = more volume = not dumping the canister all the time. I like the longer cord, I can do each floor of my house and not have to move it, even go outside, down the walk and do my van with it plugged in. If my DC14 died I'd look for another one just the same. The one I have now has seen four dogs (3 GSDs one larger mutt with even MORE coat than a GSD) and 5 cats. The only thing I've had to pay to have done was I had the cord replaced recently. Nikon chewed it as a puppy and it finally wore through in those spots (so if I didn't splint the cord it would brown out). Otherwise all I do is wash the filter every few months and make sure there's not string stuck in the roller. I've used it for at least four years and typically vacuum every other day plus clean out my entire van once a week.
