Sell your old crate on craigslist and buy a larger one from there. I bought a 48" for $60 in very good condition.

 

I would If it weren't totally mangled. The thing is held together with carrabeaners and zip ties.

So look for a used one on craigslist. They are there and cheap. Minimum of 42"

 

I've always had my dog sleep beside my bed, without a crate. When he was a tiny baby puppy, I used a baby gate to contain him in that area. Can you rig up something like that - even by taking the old crate apart and using that as a barrier?

No prob I am a reuser, not a recycler, lol. Those old crate panels really come in handy - I have one against my sliding screen door, for example. I hope my bed idea works for you - good luck!

the baby gate idea a good one. Or if you are worried about roaming and can't gate off an area.. there's always the leash to the bed post idea.. doesn't have anywhere to go but down to sleep

 

No bed post. Lol. The room idea isn't working out because he keeps climbing over us when we're sleeping. My husband works 5am-5pm so ... Yeah. I'm going to repurpose his crate tomorrow so I've got the weekend. Also the weekend I'm having the "sucky fairy" come to my three year olds room to take all his pacifiers away. *grin* It's going to be a long weekend. I've got a cat that hates him up in my room also to contend with so I'm going to have to figure something out. Thanks ladies!
