This 6 week course, taught by Julie Daniels, ends tomorrow for me, and I can’t recommend it enough.
It is offered again in June 2023 - if anyone is looking for a great intro to Control Unleashed methods, this is for you
www.fenzidogsportsacademy.com
It is very well scaffolded, with lessons building on each other. No prior knowledge or experience of CU is needed, though it’s helpful to at least read up on the theories (google “control unleashed Leslie McDevitt”) before taking the course.
The purpose of the course is to give you and your dog skills for communicating during high arousal situations (ie “sudden changes” and during transitions). It is really a lovely course and I can’t recommend it enough. Julie is a thoughtful and perceptive instructor, gives really detailed feedback, and provides ample video demos and examples throughout the course. She is a gem.
I was not super familiar w CU before, but feel like the methods are very very appropriate for dogs like GSDs that often need to be taught calmness and benefit from practicing “off switch” patterns. I think it’s especially useful for establishing a bond with your dog (great for puppies!). Only wish I had taken it years ago!
