I just picked up some fish oil, buy one get one free, from Walgreen's. I didn't notice that it has an enteric coating. Someone on here once said that since a dog's digestive system is shorter the pill won't release what it contains before it leaves the dog. Is that true for fish oil as well? I tried Googling it and found a few pages about using enteric coated fish oil for dogs.

Yes, I am feeding fish oil to my foster over the top of her food. She loves it! You could just puncture them...

I just put the pill in the dog food. Love to watch the expression on Abby's face when she punctures it.

just something I want to add here, that my doctor told me.. She had put me on a prescription Fish Oil to lower my sugar levels,,I could not take it, made me sick as a dog (no pun intended)..

She suggested I try over the counter (why not in the first place?:) anyhow, the pharmacist told me to be careful in just 'what' brand, because alot of fish oil is "rancid"....Good way to tell (and yuck), is to pop one open, if it smells like gasoline it's rancid,,if it tastes like gasoline it's rancid fish oil ...

So went to an organic food store and got the organic fish oil, sure it's more pricey, but I did 'test' it, and it smells and tastes like yucky fish oil, but not like gasoline:)))
