Hey guys, I have a 7 month old and he is very well mannered and has been trained since i brought him home. Semi knows: sit, stay, come,go,down, watch, heal, and find it(nose down naturally).
He is very obedient but lately it seems like hes been testing my temperament. Making me have to repeat a Que. multiple times before I get the response. Is this a natural behavior,? just too excited,? or is it something i need to fix. He does not do this all the time just sometimes but i am noticing it a little more. Any advice would be appreciated!

He is definitely testing you and his boundaries. He will do this a few times till he knows where he stands. Puppies go by hierarchy in a pack and he wants to know where he us and if he can get a promotion. Just make sure you keep practicing and enforcing your commands. Try to make them more fun and have him focused on you. If he refuses to listen, you can correct him with a leash tug. It can be frustrating, just remember to breathe in and out and remind yourself that its just a phase he will eventually grow out of.

The lesson here; don't repeat a command/que multiple times. If you practice mistakes, the dog will learn to perform those mistakes very well.

Both my dogs started testing me around that age and pushing boundaries. Just keep at the training. This stage will pass but it's really important that you keep doing what your doing. This is when I found both of mine started acting like jerks but it passes :)

maybe a different perspetive here,,,he's 7mths old, still a 'baby', and from your post "has been trained him since we got him home"

Maybe your pushing to much? Especially with a young dog, repetition can get really boring, their attention span can be that of a gnat.

While I do train my puppies when they first come home, it's not regimental, I let them be puppies for quite some time, and throw that obedience in as 'fun' times vs strict
