Meb biting at UPS truck tires

I have a neighbor that stops down once in awhile that has a loud truck and he normally brings his blue heeler "Bailey" with him. (He keeps Bailey in the truck) but my dogs know that she is in there. I have told him that my dogs dont like Bailey. Bailey is a nice dog but was dog aggressive to Meb when he was young and I walked him by the neighbors house. She normally just stays low in the cab of the truck. Now my neighbor likes his dogs but not so much mine. I think he is terrified of Meb and pays no attention to Meb even if Meb goes up to him tail waggin. His truck is loud and now Meb bites at his tires when he goes to leave when Bailey is with him. Now on to the UPS driver. He also is scared of Meb and wont get out of his truck if Meb is out. Well yesterday the dogs were outside when UPS pulled in and his truck is loud and the dogs circled his truck and he just handed me the package and left and Meb chased the truck out the driveway biting at the tires. I yelled at him and tried to get him to stop but he wouldnt and since the dogs can only go to the driveway (invisible fence) they stopped and came back to me. (Shay also chasing the truck) urgh..... I was so upset that they did this and I made them come to me and sit and stay but I guess it was too late. Meb can look pretty intimidating cause the hair will stand up on his back, but actually he is harmless. I think he gets nervous or scared when he senses certain people do. A few days ago the dogs met my nephew for the first time and he is 18 yrs old and the dogs just ran out and greeted him, no problem. Also my other nephew (25 yrs old & hasnt been over in a yr) stopped over with hunting clothes on and face painted and walked right in as Meb was barking and no problem?? Any Suggestions

They can read people.
The loud truck reminds him of your friend with bailey.

Brady doesn't like Goldens, ever since my dad's golden bite him at the house when he was 10 weeks old.
They don't forget and they know fear.

My dogs run up to ups guy too when he pulls in the lab actually got in the truck, this guy was cool he played with them. Fedex guy on the other hand screamed like a baby which made my pooches even more curious

Delivery people have the right to refuse to deliver to a house with what THEY believe is a potentially aggressive dog.

Nor do they have to stop because your dog is chasing their vehicle - especially if they think they might be in danger.

At this point you should have asked the driver to wait one moment while you got your dogs under control and put them away.

The problem sounds like Meb has an issue with chasing loud vehicles and Meb's going off on the truck set off Shay as well.

I personally would work on the chasing issue. And when your neighbor or the UPS people come by - put your dogs away (that way they CAN'T chase the vehicles and get run over).

I would be doing some serious training to teach the dogs to stay away from the truck, recall to you and do a downstay while you get your package, or put them in the house.

Whether it is because they are associating the delivery truck with the other truck and Bailey doesn't matter. That might be the case, or might not. Either way, they should not be menacing the delivery people for just doing their job.

Even if you don't think they'd cause any harm, you can never be 100% sure what an animal will do. Especially if the delivery driver were afraid and acted in a fearful or aggressive manner toward the dogs. If your dogs did harm him, there is a major lawsuit coming. If they just scared him, no physical harm done, you could still find yourself being visited by AC to investigate a dangerous dog complaint, and have delivery companies refuse to deliver to your address.

Mobbing the delivery trucks also puts your dogs in danger. And not just because chasing and biting at the tires could easily lead to a dead dog. Many delivery drivers are understandably jumpy around dogs because they often have a lot of bad experiences with dogs. How would you feel if your dogs got a face full of pepper spray or smacked in the head with a large stick? All things a delivery driver can lawfully do if he feels threatened.

Sounds like your dogs have learned it's their yard, not YOUR yard.

And I'd also be worried about what they actually think they know. Cause a UPS man is CLEARLY not a real threat, and if your dogs won't listen and obey you with someone who's not a threat, this could end up very ugly in the future. And our dogs never win in these situations.

How has general socialization gone outside of the house/yard? You taking your dogs out and about to do meet and greets all over town? This site (click here) shows pictures of my expectations for my dogs. If I want a happy and confident adult dog I can trust to listen to me, obey me, and be able to allow my leadership in new situations.

How are the dog classes going?

Out in public they love everyone and are very friendly. But I have noticed that Meb is getting more protective about the house and yard. Before I got Shay, I had Meb trained to sit when a car pulled in and made him stay until I said it was OK. What happened....not so sure, I probably just got leanient. I definitely need to get a handle on this as I did not like how Meb was biting at the tires and especially "NOT LISTENING" I need to be in control of my dogs at all times. Thanks for the advice.
