Hello, we just built an outdoor kennel/run for our dog to stay and play in while we are out of town and have a pet sitter come and take care of her. Otherwise she really isn’t out there unless we have a lot of people visiting and needs to be put up.
I’m wondering what we can use to put down on the ground as flooring. The kennel is 15’x50’ and is located in an area that has a lot of shade for the most part. We cut out an area with lots of trees on both sides so we took out all the grass and weeds since there was a lot of poison ivy mixed in as well. That’s all gone now and the ground is pretty bare, basically dirt. I can’t stand to put her out there on dirt and want something that will be clean and also not be muddy if it rains. It’s a big area so concrete would be $$$. We are in Central Texas so afraid that horse mats would be too hot on her feet. Was told to stay away from pea gravel and mulch. But wasn’t sure if pure cedar mulch would be ok. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
