Well, Indy's going in for surgery tomorrow to get some small lumps removed (and maybe a lipoma). I hate putting her under with her heart murmur getting worse.

She had something on her leg, that started out looking raised and fleshy, like this one on her abdomen that you can barely see cuz of the bad pic:

But just recently, it looked like this:

And then it started to look like this:

She's been biting at it, so now it doesn't quite look like either of those!

In Sept 2007, she had a mast cell tumor removed (actually it was a clump of 5 from a wasp sting), and the vet is suspicious it might be one of those. Here she is after that surgery:

that the old girl

does well with surgery, and that it's ultimately nothing that will give future concerns!

Fingers, paws, and tails all crossed. Sending lots of positive thoughts to Indy.

Stupid question time. Are female dogs supposed to be somewhat furless on their belly?

Lisa, fingers and paws crossed for Indy.

Did the Vet see her today. Reason I asked is I (queen of Staph) am seeing things that more ressemble a Staph Infection than cancer.

On the Belly shot either you color in the picture is way off or she has some skin irritation. Also in both leg pictures you can see a oval shape of discolored skin, more so in the bottom one because her fur is wet.

LJsMom, good catch on the belly. She was shaved for an ultrasound that she had last month.

Val, interesting about the staph. Her belly is black only on the right side, as that is the side that she exposes to the sun when she goes and lays on the patio. In the winter, it goes back to her usual color. The black blotchy spots though I've been wondering about for a long time (and frankly, worried about it), as she is developing more. She also has some in her anal region. Vet said it's just old age...do you think it's something else?

Lisa, it really looks like there is an oval area around the spot on the leg that is discolored also. Discolored skin usually means Staph Infection, it doesn't have to be all over the body. My DH gets a pocket errupt some place on his body, his is MRSA, but Staph is Staph he just has the super Staph. I would along with looking for cancer want to run a culture and or biopsi looking for some type of infection.

My vet says that black skin is from Staph too.

I was so hoping for an update! This time difference thing is a pain the backside!

Continuing to send lots of positive thoughts.
