11 week old slight aggression when tired

My boy Blue can be so good. I am just doing at home training until he gets into a puppy class, but he knows sit, paw, other paw, down, stay (for several steps/seconds till I say free..working on increasing time in stay), and hes getting the bang of "eyes" too.
Anyway..sure there is the normal nibbling which I can deter with toys and chews, but there have been a couple of times over the past few day when he is tired and I go to fix his leash (under arm), or encourage him not. Jump my kids while swinging that he has growled and tried to bite (being mean!). Also when he is tired and on the leash he will be like a bucking bronco and pull and jump around like crazy (then its really fun to the leash off when he is doing that just coming in from potty).
Any insight or advice would appreciated.

It is not aggression, so please don't think of it that way. Your puppy is a baby, and more than likely is extremely over-tired when these incidents happen. Have you ever seen an over-tired toddler? Yeah... not pretty. It's the same thing for puppies. Is your puppy crate trained? When he gets like that, try getting him into the crate for some rest time. A nap should do wonders. The joys of German Shepherd puppyhood! :)

agree, the pup should be crated before the tantrum begins..you'll learn the timing, most puppies are very routine. Is this your first GSD?

Do you use a harness? Because such reaction could be due to overuse of collar. Puppies, at that age, move rather uncontrollably backwards, forwards and sideways. Constant jolts caused by collar affect their neck, nerves between vertebrae are constantly affected, and it causes pain in the area of the neck. Dogs don't like to be stroke in the area of the neck, or being touched. Use harness for both training and especially walking. I wouldn't advise to give leash in hands of your kids as well, even with a harness, children don't realize what they are doing to the dog.

I didnt want to say aggressive bc he is so young, but didnt know how else to deceived it.
we are currently using a martingale collar and leash but I want to get him a harness, (something like pet safe). So I will do that in next couple of days. We were having the kids help with taking him out to potty. (For them, and in hopes that he will see them as caretakers not litter mates). I did notice (bc I watch them out there) that there was some pulling. I did discuss it with the kids. Thanks

Definitely not aggression, just a typical baby! Sometimes at that age, they don't know when to give themselves a break, so you have to enforce them! They can get a little "bratty" when tired, and so you need to enforce nap times. You'll start to see the signs of tiredness, and that's when you move in. He'll soon learn to manage it by himself :)

We use a crate when we are going out of the house, cant keep an eye on him (showers and what not), and bedtime. I wasn't crating him for every nap he takes. There are plenty of times when he chooses to nap in his crate though. I do see when he is getting too tired.
Today I was getting the kids from the bus stop and I knew he was done, told the kids time to go and when i went to adjust his leash is when he went a little crazy and tried to bite me (had a little contact ) I had the leash so i was able to keep him back mostly and he went after the leash a little more. I told him ehh and asked him to sit. (What else to do there?).
It is our 1st pup. We both grew up with shepherds though.

ice cubes are great treats, helps with the pups need to bite too. your pup is completely normal, and l'd be playing tug with him, flirtpole wears out a pup, but keep it low to the ground with fluid movements so no skidding or extreme change of direction to possibly hurt his joints.
When a pup can get out the need to bite on something 'safe' it helps them to not open jaws on the people...yet that still happens, and it is not in aggression, but just normal puppy landsharky stage. zoomies are funny yet dangerous when the mouth is open.
