Hello everyone, I have a GSD that just came in that I need immediate help with. It is emaciated, appears to have hip dysplasia, an abyss under it's neck, and the guy who found it said it hasn't eaten in a week. If anyone can help me I need to get it moved by 5 today. It isn't doing very well. You can contact me at 803-628-3190 or by email at [email protected]. It has to be gone TODAY.

Thank you

Per Shelter:

"The dog is a female. I just found out. I only know what I wrote in the original email. We did give her some can food and she scarfed it down."

poor girl...I was just coming to post her too...........

She really needs a break...we can't let it end this way.....
My understanding is the shelter is not sure what is on her neck - guessing an abyss.

Sidenote: This is the second email today that have I received where a GSD is being referred to by the shelter personnel as IT!!!
Her neck looks like there is a draining or perhaps, partially open, abscess.

If anyone can take, there is a local rescue group call Animal Adoption League ([email protected]) who could help get the dog to a vet potentially. They pull from this shelter very, very, very frequently. If you can help, call Tracy and ask her about this. 803-628-3190.
This poor dog has suffered so long to just end it like this????
BUMP! 5 pm is two hours away. There is a $75.00 donation towards her vet care if a reputable rescue can help her.

PS. Thanks Shannon for correcting abscess - I was copying from shelter email and not thinking.
I just received word that arrangements are being worked on to take this girl to a vet.

Thank you VGSR!!!!!!

I am sure VGSR will jump in and update when they can.
Yes Thank you VGSR!!!!
This little girl is at the vets and is in pretty bad shape. So far she has been very very sweet to dogs and people. Someone even commented that they "saw hope in her eyes". Blood work is being done to make sure that there isn't anything else going on with her before trying to start any treatments. The abscess may not be an abscess, but an injury from trauma. She did walk a little today and ate some wet food. The vet is said to be fantastic and is always on the side of the dogs!!! We hope she will make it, but one of the rescuers said it was the worst case of starvation that she had ever seen!!! We will know more tomorrow.
OH THANK YOU!!!!!! SHE HAS HOPE.

I WILL BE PRAYING FOR HER!
So sad that she was in such bad shape but great news.
Blood tests reveal infection and low blood sugar. Other tests are a little off but, not surprising due to no nutrition and starvations. She is eating "like a horse" and supposedly is already looking better. They cannot clean out the abscess "thoroughly" without "knocking her out" a little. They do not feel it is safe to do that yet. She is HW-, fecal shows no parasites. maybe a little stress colitis. They say that if she keeps progressing like this that she will be ready for travel by friday!!! Yay!!!! Hopefully she will be well enough to get a least her rabies by Friday too.
I'd say that's pretty terrific news! HW negative - wow! Great job VGSR. Thanks for giving this beautiful girl a chance at a wonderful new life.
She is so cute. I'm so glad that she is finally getting the attention and care she deserves. I hope she finds a wonderful home.
