Wolfie Not Feeling Well

This morning, Wolfie got up, acting his usual self. I took him outside. Pee and poop were normal. I brought him in, wiped his paws off from the rain, and we started upstairs to get his breakfast. he got to the top of the stairs ( I take him out through the basement) turned around and ran back down. Then he vomited on the floor. It was all bile since he hasn't eaten since last night at 5:30. Then he was back to his normal self, ran back upstairs, and waited excitedly for his food. He ate most of his food, played around a little and is now laying down. All normal stuff except for the vomit. His nose is cold and wet too. I can't figure what made him sick. I did find an ancient bone that he dug up in the yard yesterday. This bone has to be over 22 years old. Chief was our last dog, he never had bones outside. Wolfie never has bones outside, and we have lived here since 1988. I wonder if that bone made him sick? I didn't know he had dug it up until this morning when he went right to it. Any ideas?

Jake has done this from time to time, and I think they sometimes get queasy if their stomachs are empty.
I can't imagine an old bone like that making him sick- Renee' is probably right, just a queasy empty stomach
He found a 22 year old bone, how random LOL!! Hope Wolfie is feeling better now!
Aw poor guy. Hope he feels better.

At least 22 years old! LOL! We bought our house in 1988. Then in 2001, we tore it down and built a new one. We also cleared some more area for our yard. There's woods behind us. Wolfie has been digging up all kinds of things. Mostly old bricks and cinder blocks. I think the queasiness could be right. He ate and drank right after he was sick, and is playing like usual. No more vomiting.
Glad Wolfie is feeling better. I think it just happens sometimes that they get an upset stomach. Since he is still eating, drinking, and acting like a puppy...sounds like he is doing very well! :)
Glad he's better! I know my dogs do that sometimes too.
Sorry Wolfie wasn't feeling well, but I am glad to hear he is acting normally now.

Our previous GSD would occasionally vomit bile when his stomach was empty in the morning. It seems like a fairly common GSD thing.
Sorry Wolfie was feeling bad. I'm glad he's feeling better.

Mia will sometimes do that if she hasn't eaten for a period of time. Sometimes she would rather play than eat her breakfast and that seems to be when it happens. I've started crumbling one of her meaty treats over her kibble and she then eats her breakfast.

We call it priming her. LOL!
Yep all of my GSD have done that from time to time on an empty stomach.
That happens here sometimes too. Although Jackie just went outside to play a while ago, got into some cat poop, then came inside and threw up. The smell was nauseating. Thank God for my 15 yo daughter, Sam. She cleaned it all up. I thought I was going to be sick. It's not easy trying to chase her all over the yard to be sure she doesn't eat kitty poop!!

That sounds like me....LOL
He threw up bile again this morning, otherwise he's fine. Has anyone done anything to stop this? Should I feed him later at night maybe? Also, I tried a new flavor of canned food. I mix 1/2 can of merrick food with his kibble. I got some with trout in it. He ate that Sunday night, and in the morning yesterday. Could that be causing it? He doesn't throw up his food, and has no poo problems.
How about dividing his evening meal? I know you said you feed him at 5pm. What if you gave him half of his evening meal at the same time and then give him the other half aroun 8 or 9 pm?

I feed Mia twice a day. She gets her breakfast around 9 am and then I feed her dinner around 6 pm. She doesn't eat all of her dinner but I leave it down for her and she'll usually finish it by 10 pm.

Wolfie does this at breakfast time. He eats some of it, but finishes it later around noon. He gobbles up his supper. Maybe I will try to divide his evening meal.

Do you leave food out all morning for him?

Our last GSD we started to give 3 meals a day and some bones in between just to keep her stomach happier as she used to throw up the yellow bile in morning

Also, believe it or not she had a food allergy and when we switched foods, she never threw up bile again.
Roxy was doing doing this quite frequently. Our vet suggested using Pepcid to calm her stomach. Not being one for taking medicne for any little thing, I started to give her some food just before bedtime. Worked like a charm.

Yes I do leave it out all morning for him. I was wondering about a food allergy since I tried a new canned food flavor. This has never happened before I tried the new canned flavor.
I also feed my GSD 3 meals a day. I know that when I only fed 2 meals a day and I would take her for a walk in the evenings before I fed her dinner...she would throw up bile. But since she is now eating 3 meals a day she hasn't done that since.

I hope it helps with Wolfie. :)
