I normally train and exercise my dog every day, exercise is about 6 miles of walking, training is a couple of 5 minutes sessions and tracking every morning. Trial is on Sunday, so I'm planning on tracking tomorrow (friday) then go into lazy mode until trial. No more training or long walks until after the trial. Does this sound like a reasonable strategy?

Trial is on May 5?

It really depends on the dog. I have had some that were OK with a day off, actually needed it. I have had others that need to train and/or exercise right up to the day of the trial. Most of the time when I have stopped training before a trial it has been for my own mental well being and not because my dog needed down time.

Yeah, this coming Sunday. I have a fairly high energy dog that handles the 6 miles per day easily, when we're not walking or tracking or training, she pretty much sleeps all the time. I'm hoping the break will ensure she is full of energy:)

Did Upr-1 and Fpr-1 today. Judge SV Heinz Balonier. 91 in tracking 71 in Obedience. We had a open table workshop yesterday with the judge and I worked my dog, which I probably shouldn't have (except the part where the Judge did something none of our regular helpers has been able to do and got my dog engaged and amped up for bitework, this guy was amazing, he was able to read my dog and knew what buttons to push to switch her on, she barked hard, bit hard and held on hard) . Anyway in Obedience, she failed the 1m hurdle which I knew she would (she can do 1cm off 1m but that last cm is like a mile), was excellent on long down and send out. very good on recall, good/satisfactory on everything else. I was hoping for a low 80 score but she wasn't motivated today so in the end I was happy with a 71. Her tracking was good and predictable, she lost points exactly where I knew she would. Not straight on first article, and momentary head lift after each turn.
All in all a good day.
