I think it's a possibility, along with some generic bloodlines. A bit of GSD might also be a possibility, I think the dark muzzle and upright ears could come from either one. He's beautiful no matter what, a fortunate boy, and thank you for taking him!!

looks like what dogs would look like without human intervention -- this "type" seen in Israel, on the streets in South America , roaming in packs in Africa, Australia ...... very straight terrier front

A GSD mix for sure.

Not a purebred but thanks all the same for saving his life! :)

You're thinking of an Australian Dingo/New Guinea Singing Dog/Carolina Dog/Caanan Dog - a dog land race that arose naturally without human intervention.

Not a mutt since they breed true. A primitive pariah dog that's the foundation stock of every purebred and mixed breed dog alive in the world today.
