Good and Bad news, for me at least.

The good news, he already with 11 weeks knows how to walk up the stairs. The bad news is, he now constantly like a monkey wants to do it, even when I am downstairs and my wife upstairs.

Question. Can he already at this age walk stairs and if not, when can he ? For the moment, I do not allow him to go up the stairs. I also bought one of those doors to block it, well, it made me fall down the stairs and almost broke my leg so I kicked it and threw it into the trash (without the puppy seeing it of course, he was outside where my wife was taking care of him).

Any advice ?

yes he is old enough to go up and down the stairs. positive encouragement.

I think I carried Dexter up and down the stairs until he was about 4 and 1/2 months old. That was nuts. He loved the stairs, but they scared me because he looked so gangly going down. I used to have an English mastiff and had to be so vigilant with him until he was at least a year old, so I think I over react. Glad I only parent dogs and cats.

Jordan only goes up and down stairs when i am able to lol she refuses to do them with my hubby.... he is jealous... make sure your pup is willing to do stairs with the whole family not just the human they are most bonded with

my pup was doing the stairs around
10 weeks or 11 weeks. when he was going down
i was in front of him. when he was going up
i was behind him.

Remi is 10 weeks and has gone up the stairs on his own a few times, sometimes he makes it to the landing when I carry him the rest of the way. I prefer to carry him and will continue to do so as long as I can support his steadily rising weight! He ambles up them awkwardly and slowly, so I don't want him to do any damage, I'm paranoid. He is too afraid (thank God) to go down them, so again, I carry him down as well.

If others here are saying it's fine, I believe them. But as for me personally, I'm still cautious.

I let them figure it out. Often they can get up but not back down at first. I love watching them whine and fight to get the courage to venture down. We would stay in front of them with treats and encourage them to do it themselves- believe me in a week that little monster will be racing up and down driving you nuts
