Sonny has been on crate test for past 4 weeks, and has 2 weeks to go. Taking 75mg vetprofen twice a day to reduce knee inflammation in a ccl injury.

What is best course of action to reintroduce activity after rest?

I was thinking of letting him run in an open field, starting with 10m and building up time. He does get a little wild just running around, but he does everything full throttle so that’s my main challenge in terms of reintroducing activity.

I also thought about doing some pulling work in a harness - having him pull to get a ball or tug. I feel this is my best bet in terms of controlling his speed. With a knee injury its the speed and suddenly stopping or changing direction or quick explosive moments that put him at risk so id like to limit that as he’s just coming out of resting

No running - you'll reinjure. Power walking on leash and posture exercises to rebuild core muscle. I go to Petra Ford for rehab. she has the posture exercises on her page and then you build on them by adding fitpaws equipment.

Denise Fenzi has a course for using caveletti's for conditioning. Perchwork on a bowl works too because they are side stepping so using different muscle groups.

And consider adding Myos to your supplements. I'm hearing very good things from vets on it.

I feel for Sonny, that must be hard on a dog.
But I would go crazy too, I'm as much a creature of habit to get out in the woods 4X a day as they are.

On the rare occasion when I'm away without them, I kinda get out of sorts.

After elbow surgery at 9 months to correct an UAP, after the 6 week rest period, Nitro quickly developed balance and strength using a bosu. It was so successful his physiotherapist, after a few visits, told me there was no point in further treatment, and the surgeon complimented his even symmetry. Nitro enjoyed the bosu, 8 years later, I still have it.

@Jax08 thanks, I ordered some Myos off Amazon - looking forward to giving that a shot

@Dunkirk probably will get a Bosu ball as well, looks pretty cool the way it's being used the video

also reading through this article - just a few pages in but so far so good, https://tinyurl.com/2v2nnp6p

Also I just saw I said "walking again" in the title lol - I meant to say "working again" - he has definitely been walking still
