In 2003 I adopted a senior lab from Newark - the staff work really hard for the dogs in their care. I had driven from NC, and stayed overnight. They had Jim ready for me early so I could get him home that same day. Unfortunately Jim had cancer and passed away 16 months later - when I wrote and told the shelter staff they still remembered Jim and I ....

Does his front paw closest to the screen here look strange? Its hard to tell from pics- just looked a bit different to me. Then again, I am running off several hours of sleep and need to get some!!
Either way- this boy looks so sweet and he is absolutely gorgeous!

I sent an email to Associated Humane in Newark. I received a response.

Shotsie has an old leg injury which has healed. He does not require any special meds.

He has been there since February 2.

He is about 5 yrs old.

Right now, he is kenneled alone. I am trying to find out if he gets along with other dogs.

Also, I am trying to find out, if he is neutered. Owner surrender or stray.

I put him on the GSGSR site as in need of a temperament test. I will keep all up on what is going on. Thank you Kukkie. Nina you out there? any news if anyone is going out to AHS soon?

Newark is pretty good about keeping a dog around if they are not full and the dog has a good temperament. I haven't heard yet if anyone is going there this weekend to eval him.

Jim and I are emailing...hopefully we can go. Where is AHS? all the way out to the airport?

Yup, AHS is "behind" the airport. I drove up I95, round the airport on US 1-9, and took one of the first exits that led to the shelter. I printed a map from mapquest and it got me straight there (back in 2003). It wasn't well signposted, but relatively straightforward to find.
