We do 4 sets here. The 4 is a booster with the rabies shot.

Depends on the age you start them, and how long you wait between shots. Generally they get their last one at approx 16 weeks. So if they start young and/or you do them more frequently than 4 weeks between shots, then end up getting more than 3 total.

Siren got her first one at 8 weeks, I had her get "boosters" at 12 and 16 weeks so she only got a total of 3.

I also will NOT allow the vet to give the last puppy shot and Rabies at the same time. She got her rabies at 7 months.

Is there a reason why you dont give booster and rabies together? My vet always does this.

Ok, so maybe a little previous confusion on my part. I guess I thought it was 3 total I guess I never took the 4 wk shot into consideration...... My mistake......Feeling a little stupid right now.....

IMO, that is too much for their system at once. Besides the fact that if they would happen to have a bad reaction, you would have no way of knowing which they were reacting to.

When I get the last "puppy shot" I just tell the vet that I do NOT want the rabies too, and that I will bring the pup back at a later date. My vet has never questioned me. He just says "OK".
