We've been reading training books like crazy. They can have conflicting information. Here's two things I'd like to have some opinions on.

1) What is the correct way to play tug of war with your puppy?
2) What is the STAY command for? (meaning, why does he need to learn STAY, if I haven't released him from previous command. ie. SIT)

you really shouldnt play tug until they have gotten their permanent teeth. The video The power of playing tug by michael ellis is a great source of info. IMO

Tug only as hard as your puppy is comfortable

As for the stay command, you mark when they freeze in whatever position you place them in, ie sit or down. Use either a marker word or clicker, whichever one you're comfortable with, personally I use a clicker. Start with 2-3 seconds and work upwards from there

Its a choice thing...Lots of people only say sit (or down) and expect that to be held without an add command. If itworks for your dog, its one less ommand to remember to use
