Hubby thought Havoc had a hot spot last night but now he says it looks like he got tree sap in his fur right down to his skin and he can't get it out and is afraid to cut it out as it so close to the skin.

Any non toxic remedies for sap and sticky stuff in fur? I remember years ago (when we were kids) we used to rub peanut butter in gum to work it out of our hair.

Mayonaise or cooking oil rubbed into it may work.
Did you try pb?

No I have not tried anything. I am in Iraq- Havoc is in Oklahome with my hubby!

I was pretty sure I remembered stuff with oil should break down the sticky stuff. But it has been many years since I have had to get gum out of my hair! LOL!!

We had a kitty long ago full of tree sap, we bathed her with Dawn dish washing liquid... worked for us.

Butter works great.
When I was a kid we'd always go pine nut hunting. I somehow always managed to get pine pitch in my hair and butter got it out easily every time. I've used it on my dogs at times as well.

Hey thanks... and we find out it is not tree sap or hot spots, it is scabs from allergic dermatitis.
