Kulla Dog Training and Oak Spring Kennels are proud to host a
Training Helper Seminar
March 1-2, 2008 | Poplar Grove, IL

This seminar will cover all aspects of protection work with a concentration on safe and correct training techniques and theories. This seminar will not address trial helper work, but instead will concentrate on the development and training of dogs in the protection phase from puppy to adult, including problem-solving in all areas.

Topics covered will include:
• Drive-building and prey development
• Development of proper gripping and countering behavior
• Eliciting and shaping barking behavior
• Balancing drives (prey/defense/fight)
• Teaching the hold and bark
• Teaching/maintaining the out
• Promoting striking behavior
• Secondary work (blind searches, side transport, rear transport)
• Problem-solving: primary work (barking/biting)
• Problem-solving: secondary work (control)

About the instructor:
Take advantage of this opportunity to train with Bill Kulla, a multiple-time FCI and WUSV World team member, national, competitor and events helper and, most importantly, excellent training helper. As a training helper and coach, Bill has helped countless handlers train and title their dogs of various breeds in the sport of Schutzhund. Many of these teams have gone on to compete successfully in regional, national and international working events. Bill has also helped develop many excellent training and trial helpers across the country.

About the facility:
Seminar will be held in a fully lit indoor facility with sand floor for optimum safety for dogs, helpers and handlers. All levels of experience welcome. Information on local dog-friendly accommodations available on request.

Please see attached flyer for registration information. Questions? Please contact Jennifer at [email protected] or visit http://www.kulladogs.com.

** please note this is NOT a USA-sanctioned TRIAL helper seminar/certification; this seminar will focus on TRAINING techniques for helpers in the development of protection work

Hi Paivi,

The fee is 50.00 a day per dog. It is open to any type of dog. That is what's nice about this seminar, it is a TRAINING seminar for helper's new and experienced. It gives helpers an oppourtunity to learn from an excellent, very well qualified training helper and to work diff. types of dogs. For handlers it is an opportunity to work with a diff. helper. Spectators can learn alot from just watching too.

Denise,
it probably would not make any sense to bring Brandie, since she is too young at that point. I will most likely attend as a spectator. Have to count my pennies first...
is there a deadline to sign up?

We may make it down for this. We plan to breed Raven to Kway as soon as she comes into heat so we'll be heading that way sometime in the next couple months anyway... would be awesome if she timed it for the same weekend. Though bitches aren't usually that cooperative, maybe we'll get lucky!

It says it is not an official helper evaluation/classification seminar, but a training seminar.

The original post is five years old -you might want to start a new topic and state the country you are in and who micro chipped your dog-and that's probably who to contact
