Tonights the night we start puppy school. There is going to be about 10 puppies in class. I am feeling so nervous because Greta is NOT a laid back little girl. She is a barker, a lunger,(an excited to see you lunger). We are probably going to drive everyone crazy there. MY Brody whos 10 months was so laid back when we went to puppy school. Oh well they both have there pros and cons. Greta I find to be very focused when I ask her to be where Brody was so laid back he just kind of kept his nose to the floor. Oh well. I am excited though. Its going to be fun. Cant wait to meet all the new people and their puppies. Wish me good luck. Oh yeah Ive gotta go cook me up some chicken for tonight going to need lots of chicken treats! LOL

Good luck, should be fun. Puppy Education when Jesse went he was great and so were the other pups. When I went last Saturday to his Intermediate Education, the puppy class was just before and there were 12 puppies, the barkers were asked to correct the puppies by leaving the room until pup calmed down then went back in, puppies learned if barking then fun would end.

My first puppy class was on Tuesday! It went really well. My boy plays rough with our Golden retriever at home, but he was very gentle with the other little guys (some very small).

How old is your puppy?

Greta is almost 4 months now. She has two big brothers a pomeranian and another GSD who is almost 10 months. She plays very rough with the both of them. I guess Im kind of worried because when we go out for walks if she sees another dog she lunges and barks uncontrolably. Im always lookin way ahead of her so that I can make her focus on me while we pass. Im not sure how she is going to be with other dogs but thats why we are going. When she encounters people she also barks but when I let them approach her she is so happy to see them. She lets them pet her and then shes off. So funny how the same breed can be so different from dog to dog. She is very vocal. She whines and cries just like a little girl. Its too funny sometimes I will hear Brody and her play fighting and shes whining like hes killing her, I look over and he isnt even touching her. Its so funny. Well Im going into class tonight with a positive attitude so hopefully all goes well. I guess the only bad thing that can happen will be if they throw us out! LOL

I wish I could take Onyx back to puppy class. I saw what a good trainer can do(too late for us) and we never got that in our 1st puppy class. The massage touch in the beginning, balance on a little exercise sphere, and then put all fours in a bin(like a short laundry basket). TREATs for all great behavior and lots of praise! My training was walk, heal, listen, focus, and the pups were seemingly bored, unless their handler was antimated. My advise is don't let the trainer do any corrections on your pup, only you. And have FUN!!

Everything went wonderful tonight. I was so happy. She did bark at the beginning at all the dogs but I stayed calm. When it was time to let everyone off leash and let them play she actually just visited the other puppies and was very well behaved. I had visions that she was going to wrestle everyone to the ground. LOL It was actually strange that alot of the time she just sat beside me and watched. Were on our way to a well socialized little lady. Ha ha. I really do like the trainer. She seems to know her stuff. The class seems a little slow right now because they are teaching target hand and Greta has been doing the sit, down, stay for awhile now. But the good thing is is she is making friends with everyone. We also did an exercise where the person behind you and your puppy comes up and takes your dogs leash while you take the one in front. You keep going till you get your dog back. I glanced back at her a few times and I could tell she was focusing in on where I was. Such a good little girl. Cant wait for next week.
