Just wondering if anyone out there sprays anything on their yards to help with ticks???

I use advantix but took two ticks off both doggies last night, yuck!! They must be picking them up in the yard as we don't go anywhere else with grass that they could pick them up.

nothing works better on ticks than a preventic collar. Those things work in less than 48 hours after being applied and I lived in a very grassy/wooded area and I maybe found one or two in the months I lived there actually attached. Frontline plus, advantix, etc...have nothing on this collar !

It prevents the tick from biting, unlike products like frontline that the tick has to bite the dog first, so that is a huge plus in protecting against disease.

Not sure where in RI you are but I've heard anywhere south of N Kingston is really bad this year. My vet gave me a tip about advantix - you need to apply it every month if your dog swims a lot. He said it tends to wash off in the salt water (lol, he should know he has one of the more fantastic waterfront homes in Edgewood)

I use advantix, and I have had minimal problems this year. The ticks are really bad this year everywhere, not just south, as I live in Northern New Hampshire. Advantix says to apply monthly whether or not your dog swims a lot, and so far so good, keeping my fingers crossed. There are sprays available to spray in the yard, but I would imagine just like everything else, it's hit or miss. Good luck!

Rather than spray the yard, I let the chickens into the dogs' yard every couple of days. The only tick I've found so far this year was a small one walking on me! eek!
