I made freinds with a breeder and able to get a great deal on a male puppy. 8 weeks old with very erect ears.Very Very cute but "The Judge" is only 1.5 years old. He is great with other dogs but am I asking for trouble adding a new family member. I am not concerned about the financial side.I am waiting to have "The Judge"fixed until he is 2. Right now our system is GREAT with 2 kids and 1 dog. What do you guys think?

get the pup!! The Judge will enjoy a playmate, and at 1.5 years he's still got the energy for a puppy.

our 4 year old can get sick of our 10 month old constantly wanting to play and rough house.

Will adding a dog screw up the great system you have now??
I do not know? Thats why I am asking the question. I hate to mess with something that works but I know we can afford it and give him love. I quess my question is the fairness to the 2 dogs. I really want both dogs with the family at the same time, not one crated. The only time I would seperate is during training.

I think Judge would enjoy having a pup and there's enough of an age difference. I got two puppies just 3 mos apart and it was not smart, fun or easy. But if you love the pup, have the time and money, Judge is in a good place as far as training and position in the family I vote for getting him. I would have waited until the first one was 2 yrs old but yours is probably old enough

Do you have time to give the puppy it's own time with you?
I have 3 dogs now, group time is great but each of them deserves thier own time with you, puppy classes, socialization. I have been a multi dog house for about 17 years. No regrets. If it wasn't for my husband, I'd have more.

Nope, a female first then a male, but many people have same sex without problems. But honestly, the female is a PITA and I can't see how he gets along with her! I know a couple from obedience school that have 4 females in the same house and another friend that has two males.

We still do training with "The Judge" with the Park and Rec dept. in our town. I would do puppy training at a diff. time.

Completely agree with him.
My four year old gets sick of the 4.5 month old puppy sometimes. He wants to just sleep and lay around sometime.

I love the name Judge, in fact I recommended it to someone on this forum who needed a J name. I know a big scary looking biker who's name is Judge, he has a little Jack Russel that he calls Puppy Wuppy. So yeah, The Jury would be perfect. Jurisprudence if it was a girl.

i say go for it. Most adult dogs wont harm a pup anyway intentionally. Plus they're far enough apart in age it should be relatively easy. The pup could learn from The Judge so that would help you out some. Just remember one on one time for bonding with each. Its easier when you're raising a pup with another dog because they can play with each other and you have less chance of being the chew toy!

I say go for it, if you have the time, have the resources, Judge is basically where you want him to be obedience wise, I always had multiple males, at one point 4, and one unneutered..I never had problems with my boys:))

Sure it's more work, but it's enjoyable work:)

I'd say go for it. I have two males and they get along great (one's 16 possibly 17 and the other's 2).

Orrr u can get 2 males call them Jury and Exicusiner. And a feamale call her Justice. Then you will have the Judge, the Jury, and the Exicusnier with Justice to keep them all in line. Its PERFECT ;) ;) ;)
