I have been searching on here for about 2 months before I joined. My GSD is 16 weeks old and we are still working on socialization. We are finding that distance is our friend. Zoey can see a person or dog in the distance and ignore it but when we are closer she gets excited and wants to play. We have just recently started the LAT method of training and hope this helps. We talked with some neighbors on our walk today and after they both petted her I was surprised to find that she just sat by my feet and eventually laid down and went to sleep(it was a long talk). So proud of her for not going crazy like I had pictured in my mind!

when you encounter people on your walks use that time
to train and socialize. i did a lot of training at the mall,
in front of the Supermarket doors, 24 hour stores, in center
city or anywhere where we would encounter people. i also
invited a lot to visit us at home for training, socializing and
how to greet.
