Does anyone know the difference - if there is one - between the American Temperament Test Society (ATTS) test and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America temperament test? I was thinking of entering both. I don't know the rules/regulations of them to know if that is allowed. Any insight from anyone who has done it -- I see several TT's after dog's names in folks signatures. From which agency did you obtain your TT? THANKS!!!

I have done the TT and the main difference is that the american one is for all breeds and mixes (as long as the mixes is fixed they will get a certificate) and they have to be at least 18 mths of age, I have a female that has the TT title I believe the title is TC for the GSDC. I have read both and they both sound the same. You walk up to a stranger and they talk to you not the dog, then next stranger talks to dog not you, then someone shakes a bucket of rocks behind blind and then set it out for the dog to look at and they want the dog to put nose in bucket person is back out of sight, then you walk up to another blind and stand with back to it they fire 2/3 shots to test dog reaction, then walk up to someone that opens an umbrella, then next two is running on different surfaces and last one is protection test someone comes from behind a blind and starts yelling and waving a stick then they go and walk back, thats it, it is real easy if you ask me. I am taking my other 2 shepherds this year for the TT one.

Where / how does one find an upcoming temperament test, either through ATTS or through the GSDCA? I've gone to the ATTS site but they don't seem to have all tests listed and have not been responsive to email.

I would like to take it, although it might be a completely moot point for us - not like I don't know her temperament is rock solid and she could care less about weirdly dressed people or gunshots.

I lucked out that a local test was happening and was listed on the ATTS website. I then contacted that person directly. GSDCA....I just went to various club sites and e-mailed them directly. You're right, it took ATTS about 2 months to reply to me. I think it will be fun to do - I too know Gracie's temperament - but I'd like a few more letters after her name
