Well Odin and Frigga have a new game now. It's "tag" and boy do they love it! Frigga "invented" it for them. She races around the lawn so fast you'd think she was a Saluki instead of a GSD and Odin tries to tag her. They both run like crazy but being much lighter and younger Frigga is the speed demon. Still, Odin is pretty smart. He sets her up for fly-bys and gets her as she zooms past. Then he takes off in the opposite direction which causes Frigga to double back around and tag him back and then it all starts all over again. Both dogs are having the time of their lives with this new game and it sure as heck makes exercising them alot easier! So does anybody else's dog play this game? Not just run around and grab each other but with a will like my dogs do to make one or the other "it"?

Oh and no pictures yet, sorry. I honestly don't think pictures would do this justice so I'm going to film it and post a movie clip soon.

Morgan and Luther used to play that all the time! LIke Frigga, Morgan was younger, thinner and much faster. Seemed like Luther was always it.

Encourage it, it'll be great exercise for them when it's 5 degrees on a windy day in february!

When I take Jolene to my friend's Husky rescue, she gets to play with a few of her friends on my friends race team. She's faster than them and tags them runs circles around them and if they don't start to chase, gives them a nip in the rear again!

We have a small storage building in our backyard. Logan and Cassie LOVE to chase each other and play tag around it. It's so funny to see them stop and "hide" or double back for a sneak attack! Funny kids!

My two chase each around a big pine tree. They do the "fake" and "double back", it is so much fun to watch them. Sometimes I do this with just Shay, he normally grabs a toy and I chase him around the big tree and try to touch his back rump, and I say "I'm gonna get you"!!. I will stop half way around the tree and we peek at each other and if Shay starts to go one way I go the other so that we are still the same distance apart. This will soon become another bound of running around the tree and in the grass and back to the tree. Thank God we dont have any close neighbors watching me, they would think I am crazy.
We both get alot of exercise but I always tire out before he does.

The centerpiece for our two is the outdoor kennel I recently got them. I think this was what got Frigga going on coming up with the idea. More enticing when they can see each other through the chain link of the enclosure and try to tag each other as they go around it.

all the above stories are great. our girl, marley, at 10.5 months old has had 3 owners. she is wonderful.. first owner, was elderly and became ill, second owner had other pets and spouse did not want, we are the third owners and she is great. our 8 year old cocker took a couple of days to get used to her, but is fine now. not playing yet, but accepting. had my trainer come in and evaluate her, and she feels she is a great shepherd. we love her already. only had her 2 weeks yesterday and i think she is very comfortable. even gets on the bed at night for a bit. i am continuing to do training with her and she is so very smart. needs to gain some weight, only 51.8 and i think she is thin, although the vet said shepherds gain and loose quite often. still would like to put a few pounds on her. anyhow, any suggestion or advise is welcome... haven't had a shepherd since i was 8

Skye and Buddy play tag - in and out of the house.
This is the first game Skye taught Buddy who seems to have not known fun before he came here.

In the house they can go all the way around the couch and up and down the stairs. Buddy cheats because he is a tripod - he guards the ends of the couch and the bottom of the stairs, but Skye still gets past him.

Outside they really have a blast - much more room and great exercise for both!

They are a hoot to watch and I allow it inside because they are so darn entertaining.

bow wow meow-neat answer as the only dog Jake will come up and give me a good nose butt and if I look at him and do a play bow or respond the chase is on!Great fun for both of us but reply to nose poke with caution during long winter days unless you don't care about any breakables indoors
