Zola finished her first season well over a month ago , but her vulva still looks swollen,I thought they go back to normal size,it doesnt bother her but today there is a small discharge coming from it,we do have her booked in to get spayed at the end of april but do you think we should get her checked over now ...Thank you:confused:

Pyo is a uterine infection which can turn deadly very quickly - and I agree any discharge should be checked.

Her vulva will never be the same size as it was before her first heat, but the swelling will go down significantly after a heat, it doesn't usually take a month to do that, although all dogs are different.

Still an exam is in order. Let us know how it goes.

yes - get her checked.....the discharge is not normal...and pyo is an infection in the uterus which is deadly if not caught and treated (spayed) quickly.

Sorry for late update,due to bad weather here ,vet visit had to wait,but all is well with zola,tests not needed as vet wasn`t concerned with what he saw,,so Zola still getting spayed end of April........Nice birthday prizzie for her ,as she turns 1 year old next saturday 13th April..Thanks again for replies:):):):):):)
