supplements for hips

My dog just turned 1. Right now all he gets his fish oil. Should I give him other stuff for hips?

His hip rating was fair or whatever. Vet said he shouldn't have any problems but can't guarentee anything.

Glucosamin and Chondroitin is what I give my dog and my current foster. I think keeping them at a healthy weight is the biggest help in keeping their hips healthy.
If the problem was really causing pain I would use Animal Naturals Joint Strong. It is an amazing supplement.

But on a young dog not showing any pain or problems I don't think anything would be necessary at this point.

Keep the weight well under control and don't worry for now.
I use Synovi G3 soft chews for general maintenance for hips and joints. They love these soft chews.
I would re-xray at 2 yrs. I had a male that was fair at 12 months. 18 months was mildly dysplastic. just fyi.

also moving this to the health section since it's more a health question than on a type/brand of supplement.

I'm a believer in using them as a preventative. It's worked for us.
