My 3 y/o GSD has been playmates with the neighbors boxer since they were puppies. They spend hours together running around and playing daily. Yesterday, my GSD turned on her and tore her up pretty bad, she had to be taken to the ER to be fixed up. I worry that if she could do this to her playmate, would she do this to my daughters as well?

Dog aggression and human aggression are very different things. One does not necessarily mean the other.

I would speak to a trainer and have your pup evaluated to see if they. An determine the cause of the sudden aggression and how you can manage it.

Did you see it happen, or were they playing together unsupervised? Are the dogs the same gender?

There are a lot of factors that can go into sudden attacks. Did you see it happen? Any signs? Is one of them a female in season etc?
