Stuffed toys….

377 Views 17 Replies 12 Participants Last post by  Katiebob
Last couple of months Medoc (9months) became really attached to his 2 stuffed toys. Grey bunny he has had since puppy but never had real interest. Cream one he found while on walk so we took it.
now he often carries them around, for play or for comfort. Sometimes he brings it for playing war. Very often sleep with one. Is this normal? He never really had an interest with them before….

I can’t help with whether or not it is normal, but it is certainly very cute

My two just ripped up stuffed toys. My pup might be different. Time will tell. I have seen other GSDs on social media thatvhad favorite "stuffies".

Ellie’s favourite stuffies are the ones she can sneak into a quiet spot and inconspicuously shred it.. I wish she had one she liked.

Not unusual to like or carry stuffies around, even the shreds of what's left after they savage them :ROFLMAO:

We went with non-stuffed soft toys. They typically still have a stuffed head but not the body. Mine will be fine with them for weeks and then decide a debraining is in order.

He had only one stuffed toy, that grey rabbit from the begging. But he never liked it before. Also he’s not a chewer, he hasn’t destroyed any toys. Still loves squeaky ones.
I just thought maybe this is some anxiety sign or something? Nothing changed in our life.
Paddy has a green Kong Alligator. He frequently falls asleep with it in his mouth. After 3-4 months it gets really awful and we replace it.
Our dog loves his stuffed toys. He's now 10, but has always liked them. The only way he wears them out is by licking them to death or wearing through them just by carrying them around.

He has to take one upstairs to bed with him every night, and they often go with him outside. He doesn't normally bring them back downstairs, so they tend to accumulate up there. But the rule here is that he has to bring them back inside when he takes them out to help with chores each day.

So for this dog, it's perfectly normal.

😀 I need to teach mine do that
Good it’s not just him :)
I really started to worry.
this’I love you’ toy was left to take for free outside someone house. It sat on top of folded pushchair;) First, pushchair looked suspicious for him so he barked at it and poked it with the nose to get it moving. Then he spotted that toy and almost nicked it. But kids were in the window and I told him to leave it. Next morning was raining but that toy was still there and he went straight for it, soggy and all. Now it’s ours :)

Every dog is an individual. Some shred them immediately, others have no interest, and some - like my Lucky - just plain couldn't get enough. He did remove the eyes first thing but they were his friends. Just let your dog decide what he wants.

Yup. We have a number of "dismembered corpses" round the house but they get carried round and played with :)
