Elle doesn't look like she's lost much more weight, if any...Her excersize has had to be cut back a bit due to the heat, she gets too hot and evern vomited once, that was even in the cool hours of the evening, so we are taking a bit slow, I don't want to over-od-it with her.

Is there anything you can do inside the house to exercise her? Maybe have her go up and down the stairs (if you have stairs) a few times in a row several times a day?

We don't have inside stairs, just the front porch and back porch...But we have been playing alot of hallway fetch and tug of war and I've been letting Emma and Elle chase each other in the house, which normally is a big NO NO...but I don't want them to just not get to play. I'm going this week and am buying them a baby pool, maybe that will help keeping them cool?!? But that's about all the excersize we have for indoors...I do let DF take them out after dark and let them run, but Elle is scared of the dark and won't go too far (go figure, a dog scared of dark!?!?)
We had a Lab, whose weight got out of hand and had to go through this. NOT fun for anyone!

In the beginning of his diet, I walked him, but he was just not going to get all excited about doing much else. I, like you, worried about over-doing it. What we found was that as he lost weight just from lowered calorie intake and a little bit of exercise, he began to offer more energy, which we helped him use and that then accelerated the process.

It took a while - but "Drew" ended up svelte, healthy, shiny, active - and SO much happier than he had been.

So, take it slow, have patience and keep up the great work! You're doing a great thing for Elle and you will both be so pleased with the outcome.

Yes-exactly what Martie said.

You are doing a great thing and it takes lots of time. Ava's 11# weight loss was probably almost a full year in happening and would be proportionate to what Elle has to lose for her size. But it's stayed off and that is what is important. Plus like people there are plateaus and hot weather is not a time to lose maybe, but maintain the loss.
