A few weeks ago I posted about my 5 month old who was having trouble with distractions and ignoring me. I felt like it had alot to do with him teething, he was really bothered by it. All he wanted to do was chew and I could tell he was uncomfortable. I got a bit frustrated but I took a step back, gave Dude a couple of days off, and thought about what was going on.

I ordered Micheal Ellis' The Power of Training With Food. It has been years since I have had a puppy in the house, and that long since I have interacted with a dog that wasn't trained so I decided I needed a new paradyme.

The DVD is awesome. What I wasn't doing was varying the reward event. I was too predictable, boring, so in other words, no fun. :( It took a couple of days, and I went way back in training to up our engagement, but things are back on track and although Dude is still teething, his attention is on me and he seems to enjoy training again.

I would suggest to anyone to grab those DVD's!
