My mom and I took my crew to Petsmart a few weekends ago to do some socializing and one woman came up and was talking about how cute and sweet Dixie was (completely ignoring Tippsy and Jazz), and just went on and on. And then she asked if she was up for adoption...? Uh, no! I told her I adopted her from the local ACC and she's a part of my family. And this woman says "well, I wanna adopt her". Seriously woman? Why she wasn't getting that Dixie's not for adoption, I have no clue... So I laughed, said "of course you do", and walked away all three of my crew in toe... And this woman proceeded to follow us! So I had to go find my mom (she was getting cat food), and the woman followed us ALL around the store (walking by the dogs that were up for adoption and all), to where I found my mom. I told my mom what happened and she told the woman if she didn't leave us alone she'd call the cops.

I just gotta say, that was the WORST visit to Petsmart EVER!

A new era of stories...the new 'people of Petsmart' are the old 'people of Walmart'
I wonder if that woman was my SIL's crazy sister. Sounds just like something Judy would do!!

Well, crazily, sometimes this works.

My mom saw a Pekingese in a parked car and was admiring her just as the owner returned. She complimented him on how cute the dog was and asked if he would consider selling her.

I was mortified, but wouldn't you know, the guy said yes and handed her over on the spot.

DW went to Petsmart today to socialise Ranger. This was his second trip and he was a little nervous when they first got there. Some lady came up and was very insistent that my wife get Ranger into her training class. DW told her no thanks we already have a trainer. Did she listen? Nope, she kept following her around the store. DW lucked out and happened to see our trainer walking into Petsmart with her Chessie and DW let the woman know "that this is my trainer". So now the woman leaves, but returns with her Pomeranian, I guess to demo his skills?? Which were very good, but come on, lol!!! some people just a little different.

PS trainers are notorious for stalking people with their dogs(and without!) Too bad they never see the ones marking the endcaps and peeing on or eating the treats off the bottom shelves.
What great timing that your trainer arrived!

Daaang! xD

lol
But even so...the OP made it pretty clear that they weren't parting with the dog...continuing to follow them around like that is...well...very unsettling.

Funny, I have never had that happen when walking with my 90lb somewhat dominant acting (stares at people!) male, mostly black GSD!

At first reading your story I was like, "Well that's not weird, sometimes adoption groups don't have enough "adopt me" vests or whatever and it might not be immediately obvious whether a dog is there for adoption or not.

But then, yikes! Following you around the store? I'd have been freaked out too, thinking she was going to try to steal my dog if I turned by back for a second! I don't think the initial question was weird, but not taking no for an answer and then stalking you is seriously unhinged.

People are crazy, and crazy people get even crazier about animals.

About 6 months ago I took Z in to PetSmart for grooming, and when I picked him up as we were walking to our car, two ladies were walking in. One of them asked if he was looking for a home. I just said 'no he has a great home already' and kept on walking.
