So my newly adopted (bout 2 months) 5 year olds are sure loungers. They seem content to just lay down and nap most of the day when I'm not doing anything (I work from home).

They are in great physical shape, they aren't fat at all, and are very healthy. They do like to go out and play hard, but is it normal for them to just be okay lounging around while I work all day?

Mine lounge all day while I work (from home too). We run them in the morning before I start and we walk them in the evening, but most of the day they just chill out. Occasionally they will start to play and run around outside (or inside!), but they are pretty content to hang out.

My three are loungers also.(2 GSD's and a Pomeranian) The thing that kills me is the 5 month old GSD wakes up at 5:00 A.M. every morning and wakes them all up and by 6:00 there all laying around sleeping again and Im up for the day. They are all three sleeping at my feet as we speak.

I'm glad someone asked this. I've been wondering the same thing. Kodee is almost 1 year old now, and I swear, if he's not being played with by me or the kids, he's almost always napping. He's in good shape, not too heavy, looks great, and is happy, so I guess I shouldn't worry. I just tell him he's my "lazy bum." LOL

My Max follows my schedule to a "T". If momma's in bed sleeping and daddy's up getting ready for work, Max is dead asleep. LOL Sometimes he'll come by the bed and slowly come up to me, he knows if I don't respond, he might as well lay down and go back to sleep himself.

It ain't no fun if momma's not up! LOL

I was wondering this as well. Although Kaiser is just a pup(11 weeks) He is sleeping most of the time. He has his 20 minutes every 3-5 hours that he wants to play and run around but then its back to snoozville.

Grimm is a Boneless Blob-O'-Lovin'. When he is offlead outdoors and running, he loves to run and play and gallump. Indoors, he finds a spot, turns round a few times, and drops to the floor sounding like a bag of elbows....... with a really loud HARRUMPH.

My girl also is a lounger......I work 9 plus hours a day and have to take my daughter to camp in the morning, so I'm away from home for about 11-12 hours....As I leave she is already snuggled in her bed and ready for her morning nap. Mind you, I get up at 4:45 and walk her at 5:15 Monday through Friday......she's an early riser but will stay up with me at night until I'm ready to go to bed, Dad is already sleeping before both of us his the room.

Yup! Ruby is a lounger. Though I haven't figured out if she is lounging due to abject boredom because I'm sitting on the catch watching yet another downloaded episode of Enterprise, or she's really happy just lounging. She's silly. She lets out these HUGE sighs.

Yes- people cannot believe how mellow our puppy is, but the secret is she walks two-three times a day. I know its time for a walk or a play outside when she gets what I call the "crazy puppy eye"... but otherwise she loves her rest time (right on top of the AC vent!)
