My 1 yr old has been ripping out clumps of her fur!! ive bathed her with anti parasite shampoo searched her for ticks/fleas, and now she has a flea collar. And after bathing, under her coat she still has black spots that just look like compacted dirt. i am at a lost of what to do? is it dry skin thats causing her to rip out her fur? I currently live in portugal and the sun is strong and hot here but she is an inside dog and when she is outside she has a kiddie pool when its too hot. I have no idea what this could be from my other dog (pomeranian) doesnt have any of these issues. please help

just adding a note that she doesnt nor has had a flea problem i was stating that i have ruled that factor out.

Sounds like fleas, the dirt looking 'stuff' is probably flea poop. If you can get a bit of it off but it on a white surface and then add a drop of water. If it's flea poop it'll be red since flea poop is really just blood

Do you have Advantage or those types of flea prevention options?

yea i did that already thinking the same thing but its not anything like that...its more like flakes of dirt or dry skin its hard to explain. However i feel i shouldnt of mentioned it all together because i do not think it has anything to do with the fact of her ripping out her fur.

I have used frontline and the she has a flea collar. I comb her and come up with nothing.
If its not fleas, could be a skin infection. Lady Jane gets these in her rump area. 30 days of Baytril and bathing with DermaBens shampoo clears it up.
yea sasha has two bald spots one on each butt cheek. does lady jane get them often after you clear them up? or is it seasonal?
You might try adding some flax seed oil capsules to her feed. You might also have the vet check her for mange mites.

It appears to be a seasonal thing with Lady Jane - probably due to her environmental allergies that we're working on.
