I was walking Charlie today and a K-9 Police car went by. He stopped and told me that he was looking at my dog and thought his hips were too "wobbly" when he walked and I should get an xray. Needless to say that ruined my week/month, but isn't that kind of a trademark of Germans? And also, is 6 months too soon to xray? Please help me!!!!

It's not uncommon to have preliminary X-Rays for different reasons. The suspect of hip displasia is one of them, but many GSD pups are very wobbly without having it (even when it's not something I'd like in a puppy and not a trademark of the breed).

I would ask for a vet check on a vet knowledegable on the matter, they can make some test that only require to move the hind legs, check for pain, etc. The vet then can say if X-rays are really needed.

I had Safir's submitted to the OFA when he was a year old and they came back Borderline. He never had any problems or symptoms. He is now 2 years old and I want to have them done again.

Check with a vet, he could tell you if you should have it now, or wait a little longer. Pay attention to any discomfort.
