my dog always been scratching since i have him ( since 4 month now ) .
recently we decided to change his food for orijen since we found that our vet was telling us to feed him with bad quality food .

since we started to mix old food with orijen ( since 8 days now ) hes way more scratching and licking his paws . its not insane but lets say he cant be 1 hour sometime less without doing one or the other .

i tough it was food allergy ... previous food had chicken also but purina is poor so maybe thats why its worst now ? ive been told maybe cause its dry in the house because of the heater.

lips / ears / eyes seems ok .. drinking way more tho ..

any clue or idea about what i should do / observe ?

paw licking is an allergy sign. it could be a chicken allergy or a corn allergy. Purina is made up of a great deal of corn product. Could even be a wheat or soy allergy. He could also just have bad skin which is Zena's case. She's just allergic to basically herself lol. try an elimination diet. if you can, i would suggest trying 4health. No corn, no soy, no wheat. BUT the large breed formula has chicken in it. they have a lamb and rice formula.
I had a GSD that was just allergic to something in the environment, we never could figure out what. After different foods etc, we finally settled into a unique protein one and gave be benedryl which she took for the rest of her life and the paw licking/chewing stopped and she was happy as a clam. Look how many things us humans are allergic to :)
i think its also hard to recorgnize heavy lips from allergy ... well for me its hard since its my frist dog ..
we have been having allergy? skin itchy issues since our dexter was 2 1/2 mos old- he is now 6 mos old- we are still working on it- been to 3 vets- latest one is a holistic vet who put him on solid millenia beef kibble, omega 3 oil, probiotic, and an herb for itching- we are about in week 2 with this-
hope your dog and ours gets over this- oh, and i am adding a benedryl pill to his food once a day- he is at the 58 - 60 lb mark

good luck!
lol mine is named dexter also !
how much benedryl do you give to help a 75 pound with itchies. I fear it is environmental, it has gotten pretty bad since the harvesting is going on and running the newly harvested fields Thought I'd try a few days, thanks

We gave two pink pills a day for ours when she was that weight. Too little is better than too much. Work starting at like 1 pill split a day and move up. No reason to give the x number of mg per pound if you don't need that much
1 > you're mixing the old food (Purina) with the new food (Orijen)
and he's scratching more. how do you know which food
is causing the scratching? i would stop feeding the Purina.

2> the heat causing itching, maybe? how about a bath
in some natural or organic shampoo? what do wash your dogs bedding in?is there anything in your house that may be causing
an allergic effect? try another Vet (2nd opinion).
