There is a blind German Shepherd in a horrible situation, not sure
what part of KY. Couple has divorced and ex-husband has dog, but has
left dog outside in small kennel and is not even feeding him
regularly.

If you can help Max, please contact Tammy Pack ASAP at (606) 297-4840.
Her email is - [email protected] yahoo.com, but she doesn't have regular
access, so calling is best way to reach her.

Please, let's get this boy into a loving home where he will be taken
care of and not be left blind and alone outside.

I have a four year old, blind German Shepherd who needs placement.

I split up with my husband over 6 months ago and was unable to take
Max with me. Since then his condition has deteriorated greatly. He
is now kept outside in a small kennel. My ex is not exercising or, in
my opinion, feeding him regularly. He used to look healthy, but now
he looks poor, with his ribs showing. It breaks my heart to see him
kept like this. My ex has told me to do what I want to do with Max,
and since I now live in the new Paint Landing apartments and cannot
keep a large dog, I would like to find him a good home.

He has been blind since birth and confident in familiar surroundings.
He was a house dog as a pup, but has been an outside dog since.

Thank you for your time,

Tammy Pack

PS. I do not have regular internet access, so phone would be the best
way to contact me.

This sounds horrible. According to a quick google search the apartments mentioned are in Stambaugh, KY.

doreenf, in some area's of the country as long as the dog has shelter, water and gets fed once a day it is being cared for. KY is a state that has a different attitude with dogs than some other states.

Oh that is great news!!!!!! I always hate opening a lot of rescue thread but the blind part made me do it, then to see he is in KY, my old home!

KY is a state that considers the care "adequate" as long as there is shelter and food and water. They do not really define shelter.

Oh I forget
sometimes that not everyone treats their dogs like I treat mine.

Spoke with the family. He is not neutered, not vaccinated, and not on HW or Flea Prevenative.

I also suspect that he is not totally blind, but has limited site, fingers crossed that this is the case. Blind dogs taken out of familiar situations sometime can be aggressive, out of fear, understandably. If he is limted site, this may not be the case. Fear aggression is more difficult to deal with.

I plan to pick him up and take him to the vet on Friday. (DR. Mark Ratliff/ Tri- COunty Animal Clinic 606-673-1144/ account Dumas GS Rescue)

He is a pure bred , and I personally know the sire and dame of this dog, and they have a good line. (Though this is the second dog I have placed from their litters.... GRRRR>>>>>)
