I found these two looking through their website. I was told this shelter also has a shepherd that is trained to detect seizures named Shannon, (who I was looking for on the website) but did not see her. I do not have any other information.

Re: Gaston County, NC - (2) 4 Month Old BGSD Females

I know!!!!

A quick correction as well - the seizure detection dog's name is not Shannon. I have no idea where I got that from - I may be going crazy. I was told her ID is Tag# 2585 and she is a WGSD - But again I have no further information and do not even know if she is still there or what her training may be.

The seizure alert dog isn't on there anymore because she has been saved...per an email I got from a yahoo board, no details and no name of rescue or if it was an adoption from the shelter???

Bump for the pups!

I live right near this shelter, this is where I pulled Thor...

If anyone has interest, I can help to pull without fees.

Still on the website, I have emailed the shelter for more info as to why they are in the non-adopts?

Per the shelter, as to why they are in nonadopts

Hi Sue,

The paperwork says they are shy, which disqualifies them from adoption.

Just an FYI regarding the seizure dog..was listed as a chow mix, adopted yesterday by rescue that will help it be placed where its talents can be used best....it is more of a shepherd mix.

Sue, please let me know if one or both get adopted or not- if you wouldnt mind sending me an email at [email protected] . I check that more often. I dont want these babies to die in there... and know alot of GSD people from training.

Just FYI - I have a female GSD I am fostering for Noble who was all but feral when we got her, you couldn't catch her, she would growl when cornered, did not like human touch. We had to lasso in a stall her to give her rabies shot. After a week of hard work, she is still shy but will come to me and look at me and sometimes even wag her tail and almost likes being petted. There is hope for these two with a little TLC.

Thanks Danni...I will definitely email you. I cannot do a long term foster, but could foster short term to help out to get to a foster home.

Bpierce, thanks for the info. This shelter is known to label as "shy" way too easily..just because they don't come running to you...well, when you are scared, you don't tend to go to someone you don't know....I have yet to really pull a "shy" one out of there!
