PERMISSION GIVEN TO CROSSPOST
This may well be a longhaired GSD and NOT a mix.

This little guy was found in a ditch (http://fresno. craigslist. org/pet/39010047 8.html) .

The woman who found him rescues a lot of animals, mostly St.Bernards. , so I know this is real and not made up top get money out of people. If any one else can help this pup, or have any suggestions for Carly to try, please let her know or email me and I will get the information to her.

Thanks

OMG - the poor little guy -

There's got to be rescue in California willing to help this boy!

Here's a list of rescues in Fresno if anyone can e-mail them to the OP - but if she's a rescuer she probably already knows about them:

OH MY... how sad!!
Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

I wonder if imom would help with this case? Perhaps point her in that direction.
Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

theres the German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California but not sure if they cover as far South as Fresno????
Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

Does westside reach fresno?
Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

Bump for the ditch puppy. He needs a good strong name. Poor little guy and bless this woman's heart for taking him in and saving his life.
Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

How about calling him Dozer (since bulldozers often work in ditches)? Looks like a GSD to me! I hope someone out there gives this sweet boy a forever home!

Quote: Hey it's Carly again, with the Saints and Hounds and the 70+ Chihuahuas. Here is what is going on now: My husband saw this little guy two or three days ago, thought he was dead because he hadn't moved. Today he drove by the ditch and the puppy moved his head.
Interesting.

If he could get to a reputable rescue that does home checks, speuters before adopting out, etc., that rescue could look into Ortho-Dogs and hopefully IMOM will be able to take on new cases soon. Right now though they can't because there are too many pets in need and not enough dollars coming in. I believe Orthodogs SLF is in the same boat with donations though.

He's adorable and needs to be vetted now if he's not already been there.

SO, if you know of a reputable rescue that could take him, let them know about the sources for funding. Of course a good rescue will be able to do the preliminary vetting needed.

Will send to IMOM as an FYI.

Can anyone rearrange the US and make California closer to NY?

Anyway he can get to NY?

Anyone else wonder why this guy drove past what he thought was a dead puppy in a ditch for several days without checking to see if it actually WAS dead?

Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

If he still hasn't been vetted, he could never make it to NY.

And yes, CM, I totally wondered that. Maybe his wife's 70 taco bell dogs deterred him...sorry, I wonder what that line meant.

Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

I talked to the lady that has this dog. They did take the dog to the vet. The dog was shot, has a broken femur, and three pevlis breaks from what I heard. I am trying very hard to get my favorite all breed rescue to sponser the initial vet care, and I will make the payments for the rest of my life!! It sounded like the recommended surgeries were in the ball park of 4,000.00 dollars.
The lady that has the dog said she would sign him over to a resuce that would continue care, and that the dog is currently on morphine for the pain. She was going to update the craigs list posting on the progress. Since the group I am begging to help, has not returned my calls it is not promising, but I will keep plugging away. Those photo's are haunting me.
Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

I would help with any transport needed in Northern California but a dog in this condition clearly can't be transported

Re: Fresno pup found in ditch

I have my fingers crossed. My rescue friend is battling breast cancer, and her silence makes me think she can not deal with rescue currently. I am hoping she is just busy with dogs and that is the hold up. To think of this little one suffering is to much. I know transport is not ideal, but possible the only hope it has.
