I'm writing from Beaufort County Animal Shelter in Beaufort SC in regards to a BEAUTIFUL german shep. that we received yesterday. The K9 was surrendered by an owner because they were moving, they only had him for 3 weeks, and got him from another couple because they were moving, too. We were going to process him for adoption but he tested positive for heartworms. We have very limited space and funds because we are county funded, so he needs to go to rescue asap. Please help!
Thank you

I know the founder of Morningstar Rescue in that area. She has probably already been contacted as those rescues in that area work closely together but just to be sure, I will contact them anyway.
My contact in Charleston SC is still available to foster. All of the dogs she has offered to help so far have been saved, so she is willing to help, but definitely cannot afford HW treatment.
This is Kaitadog's Charleston, SC contact- I don't know how much treatment would be and I haven't met the dog. I might be able to pull together around $300 for treatment. No idea how severe his case is, I only know what has been posted here. Regardless, I'm not affiliated with a rescue that can pull him and that needs to happen before I can do anything.
If a rescue can back me up, we have a temporary foster home lined up until our current foster is transported next Saturday. Afterwards, we can foster him until he is adopted.
Negative on direct but positive on the snap antigen test- birthday Nov. 12 '06. intact male dog. Was supposed to be euth'ed this morning but they didn't have time- they are holding him until the end of today.
I have someone ready and waiting to pull, she can start driving to Beaufort (2 hours away) now- if I can just get a rescue!
I am TRYING TO SEE if we can take him through White Paws. It would depend on how long you guys can foster and how much the HW cost is. Does he have any shots and is he neutered?
Thanks.
Walton here- I'm on Edisto Island-between Charleston and Beaufort.
I have just called my regular vet(have used her 7 years) in Charleston who has treated our rescue dogs for HW at her cost-based on weight...I would guess around $175. I should hear from her tomorrow & I don't think it would be a problem in her treating this boy.
MM and Kaita Dog, I am PMin'g you with further details
