Saluting Dog Breeders

What's worse? Looking at a male's lipstick or having a female dog in heat? I am so tired of dealing with the blood because my dog is going through her first heat. I bought one reusable doggie diaper and wish I had gotten two. One to wear and the other waiting to be washed and dry. I am trying to do the best thing for my dog by waiting to have her spayed because she's less than one year old. I can't wait until this is OVER.

Dog breeders I salute you.

I agree. I had a foster dog I pulled from a shelter so a rescue could pick her up. She was in heat and she lasted one day! My dogs were totally out of sorts and the foster dog was tearing through baby gates and trying to gnaw through the bars of the crates to kill my dogs. I was following her around with a SpotBot, cleaning her blood stains (and she was pretty good about cleaning herself).

From now on I'm sticking to intact MALES! I know a lot of neutered males who still get the lipstick so I really couldn't care less about that.

I suppose kennels/dog runs make things a lot easier than having a tiny rental, three dogs, and no actual "rooms" to barricade them in.
what's lipstick on a male??? why did you get a female dog???

"lipstick" is when the penis sticks out from the shaft
I'd much rather a male then a female. I couldn't even stand my female cat before she got spayed. We had to worry about keeping her in when she was in heat, and all of the howling! She barely bled, but jeez! I can't even imagine a female GSD!

also known as Red Rocket. I saw some dishwashing liquid that was from China with the label RED ROCKET. I should have bought it. When I showed it to the clerk at that dollar store she turned red.

Powell
I got a female because no lipstick, no leg humping, no peeing on trees so my backyard plants will survive, less roaming and thought they were less aggressive.

My friend, Joe, set me straight on all of the above. He has a tendency to do that on a lot of things.
Anyway, he has an male English Mastiff and has said a lot of my concerns (how do we say it nicely?) are minor. He said female dogs aren't called bitches for nothing. haha.

Aw, my male has never humped, still squats when he pees (at 2!), wouldn't dream of leaving his home or further than 5 feet away from me for that matter, and seems no more or less aggressive than a female. I have gotten used to the lipstick and know when it makes an appearance that he is genuinely happy. Can't help but smile now if I ever catch a glimpse!
I have a neutered male who still sports his red rock or lipstick upon excitement,,, its only really bad when its over food. GROSS lol

And now I have a new rescue female, not yet spayed (next month)
who likes to HUMP the male lol

But growing up we had female breeding dalmations. talk about a frikkin mess!

Nope, I prefer altered dogs of both sexes. Ill leave the sexual issues to the experts.
Humping isn't just a sexual thing, it's also a sign of Dominance. IMO the whole lipstick thing isn't a big deal, I don't even really notice it. I guess this is because I grew up with male GSD's my whole life...
Oh yea IM aware that she's doing a dominance thing over him.
I just think its hilarious.

I too grew up around intact GSD and Huskies.

Still hard not to notice LOL

YIKIE but I loves my boy.

Well, I was ignorant to that fact. My female used to do it with me and the kids when she was a puppy. We corrected that problem right away. I had only had female dogs while growing up.
I had read up on it, because I didn't understand why a three month old puppy would be humping a blanket, as he was not sexually mature yet. I found out that humping is also a sign of dominance, and was in fact trying to dominate my blanket! It was the funniest thing though.
ok, no lipstick i understand (at least now i do), no leg humping i understand, peeing on the trees and plants, um, males and females both destroy lawns, and roaming, i've never had a dog roam. you have to let them out to roam. agression, i've never had an agresssive dog and all of my Sheps have been males. training and socializing helps with most problems.
Heats are exactly why I will never own a female. I will not early speuter my dogs and I do not want to deal with a heat and a male. No way!
Dhau there was a member that would use a baby pullup diaper and just cut out for the tail. I liked that Idea so much we tried it on one of our females recently and just think no washing just throw it away and put on a new one. Don't knock it until you try it. I laughed so hard when I seen the post a while back until thinking about having to wash the other type of diaper. Yes it really works
I cannot conceive of missing out on owning bitches because of a bit of blood and hassel. It is your loss. I think managing intact bitches is easier than dogs as dogs pee everywhere all the time. Mine lifts his leg and pees on his front leg. Then he jumps on me with that soggy front leg, uhg!!! Never had a bitch do that!

I saw that picture too. Now I have two of the pooch pants and wash them daily. Yuck! lol. I figured the pants would be cheaper in the long run compared to pull ups and trying to figure out where to cut the hole for the tail.
Well I thought the same way as you until I tried it, so you screw up one diaper if cut wrong. But you don't have to worry about washing them which is nice too.
The only thing is that you are filling up the landfills with all of those disposable diapers. I am not that green myself, but I find the reusable diapers easy enough to throw in the washer and dryer and it is environmentally sound. When I put a kotex in them, they fill up the landfills too. But I do not need to use them expcept when they are bleeding heavily. Also if I expect one is coming in heat, I can put the diaper on, and if not, no harm no foul. It is a lot cheaper with the reusable ones.
