Has anyone heard of Richthofen German Sheperds in Ohio? I have been looking through breeders and this is one I am considering for my next pup, has anyone heard of them or had any experience? Here is their website:

I have a male from them. He is now 7 years old and in great health. He's never had a problem maintaining healthy weight. I know his father passed away some time ago. Isaac had some temperament issues as a pup, but it was recognizable when I picked him from the litter, so it wasn't exactly a surprise. He occasionally has an seasonal allergy issue, but nothing bad. My vet x-ray'd his hips at the age of 4 and was told he probably wouldn't pass OFA. You can't tell by his activity level, though. He's happy and energetic as he was at 2. He's incredible intelligent and constantly surprises me, even in comparison with other GSDs. I'm personally happy with him, but that's about all I can say. I find this commenting highly interesting, considering I was contacted by you wanting me to allow you to have breeding rights on Isaac, which I refused. Why would someone want breeding ability on a dog that "probably wouldn't pass OFA", and why not do the official test to find out without a doubt if that fear was put in your mind? We also know that there is more than genetics alone that goes into having a good set of hips-proper nutrition, parasite control, weight control, not allowing a young GSD not do excessive stairs or hurdles, and other things. I fully encourage anyone considering purchasing an animal of any kind to do broad-based research and make decisions based off of that research. Nick, you're always welcomed to come back-I've continued to improve bloodlines & health test, am a recognized as AKC Breeder of Merit and won national awards for club work for the breed. I have reservation lists all the time and do not have any problems placing my puppies. I wish you both the best! - Kathi Jo
