I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I recently purchased a GSD who has SV papers from Germany. His original owner (who obtained the dog from the breeder in Germany) has a Bescheinigung from the SV stating that he is currently the registered owner of the dog.

My question is: In order to register with the AKC, do I need a new Bescheinigung stating that I now own the dog - or is having the transfer of ownership signed on the SV pink papers from the original owner to me with his name on the Bescheinigung acceptable?

Thanks for any assistance, I truly appreciate it!

AKC has a foreign dog registration form. The original owner fills in the top part and shows the transfer to you. He sends the form to you along with a copy of his Bescheinigung and you sign and send to AKC along with a front and side picture of your dog. He will need to sign the back of the Pink Papers showing transfer to you and you will enclose a copy of the complete Pink Papers with the submission. You will receive your AKC registration in about two weeks.
